This is the conversion to use when the transparency matters. PNG is read by everything and carries an alpha channel, so a logo or a cut out subject comes through intact. The trade is size: PNG stores every pixel exactly, so expect a considerably larger file.

Questions

Does the transparency survive?

Yes, including partly transparent edges. Quality is set to Best here so nothing about the image is altered.

Why is the PNG so much bigger?

WebP compresses; PNG does not throw anything away. If size matters more than universal support, staying on WebP is the better choice.

Can I make the PNG smaller afterwards?

Yes. Lower the Quality setting and Hirira reduces the colour palette, which often cuts the file dramatically with no visible change.
