Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 September 2026
1. Who we are
This policy covers the website at hirira.com and its subdomains (the “Site”), operated by Hirira (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@hirira.com for any privacy question, including a request to exercise the rights described in section 8.
2. Your images
The compress, resize and convert tools run entirely in your browser using standard web technologies (the File API and HTML5 Canvas). When you add an image:
- It is read from your device into your browser memory.
- It is decoded, redrawn and re-encoded locally by your own device.
- The result is offered back to you as a download, produced locally.
At no point is the file, any part of it, or its file name transmitted to us or to any third party. There is no upload endpoint in the code, and you can verify this yourself: open your browser developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and process an image. No request carrying image data will appear. The tools also continue to work if you disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded.
Because nothing is received, there is no retention period, no deletion queue and no backup containing your images. Everything is discarded from browser memory when you close or reload the tab.
3. What we do collect
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used, with IP anonymisation enabled. The events we record describe behaviour, not content:
| What is recorded | Example |
|---|---|
| Which tool page was opened | compress |
| That a batch was started, and how many files it had | 4 files |
| Which steps ran | resize+compress |
| Output format chosen | webp |
| Whether it succeeded, partly succeeded or failed, and the reason category | partial, target-missed |
| Coarse size and duration buckets | 2-5MB, 1-3s |
| Whether a download was a single file or a ZIP | zip |
| How many times the tools were used in one visit | 3 |
| Standard web analytics: approximate location from IP (country/city level), device type, browser, referring site, pages viewed | n/a |
The allow-list that enforces this is a single visible block at the top of
/js/analytics.js on this Site. Any parameter not on that list is
dropped before an event is sent.
4. What we deliberately do not collect
- Your image files, or any pixel data from them.
- Your file names.
- The exact dimensions or exact byte size of any specific file you processed.
- Image metadata such as EXIF, GPS coordinates or camera details.
- Names, email addresses or accounts. There is no sign up on this Site.
5. Cookies and local storage
Two things may be stored in your browser:
- Google Analytics cookies (
_gaand related), used to tell repeat visits from new ones. These typically expire after two years and can be blocked or cleared in your browser settings at any time. - An advertising consent preference, stored in local storage under
hirira-ads-consentonce advertising goes live, so that we remember your choice and do not ask again on every page.
No cookie or storage key on this Site holds anything about your images.
6. Advertising
Hirira is intended to be supported by advertising. As of the date at the top of this page, no advertising is being served. Ad space is reserved in the page layout so that enabling it later will not cause the page to shift, but no ad network script is loaded and no ad request is made.
Before any advertising is switched on we will: name the network in this policy, and describe what it collects. For visitors in the EU, UK and other regions where it is required, we will ask for consent before any advertising cookie or identifier is set. Advertising will never be given access to your images, because the ad code runs in the page and your images never leave the browser memory that the tools use.
7. Third parties we rely on
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland/LLC) for the usage statistics described in section 3.
- Google Fonts. The Inter typeface is requested from Google servers, so your IP address and browser are visible to Google when the font is fetched.
- Our hosting provider, which serves the Site files and keeps standard server access logs (IP address, timestamp, URL requested, user agent) for security and troubleshooting.
No third-party library is loaded to process your images. The compression, resizing, conversion and ZIP code is all first-party and served from this domain.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or port the personal data an organisation holds about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Under the GDPR our lawful basis for analytics is legitimate interest in understanding and improving the Site; where consent is required for advertising or non-essential cookies, we will ask for it and you may withdraw it at any time.
In practice, the strongest control is already in your hands: because we never receive your images, there is no image data for us to disclose or erase. For analytics data, write to hello@hirira.com, or use your browser settings or an ad blocker to prevent collection entirely. The tools work normally either way.
9. Children
The Site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Since no account exists and no personal information is requested, there is nothing to submit.
10. International visitors
The Site is available worldwide. Analytics and hosting data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Your images are not transferred anywhere, because they are never sent in the first place.
11. Security
The Site is served over HTTPS with standard security headers. Keeping processing on your device removes the largest risk a tool like this would otherwise carry: there is no server-side store of user images to be breached.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, in particular when advertising is enabled, the date at the top will be updated and the relevant section rewritten before the change takes effect. We will not begin serving personalised advertising under a policy that still says advertising is off.
