Questions

Why is my file already under 500KB but barely shrinks?

A JPG that has been saved once is already compressed. There is little left to take without going down in quality, and Hirira will not pretend otherwise.

Is 500KB small enough for a website?

For a hero image, yes. For a page with twenty images, aim lower or switch the format to WebP, which is normally 25 to 35 percent smaller at the same look.

Can I keep the original dimensions?

Yes, that is the default. Hirira only changes the size if you ask it to, or if you allow it to in order to reach a limit it otherwise cannot meet.
