Compress Image to 500KB
Drop a file. It comes back under 500 kilobytes.
Drop images here
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP. Paste works too.
Choose imagesStays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Best keeps PNG lossless, so it will barely shrink. Try High.
Half a megabyte is roomy. A twelve megapixel photo will usually get there at a quality setting you cannot tell apart from the original, which makes it the right limit when the picture still has to look good after it has been shrunk.
Good for
- CVs and portfolios with photographs
- Print ready images that still need to be emailed
- High resolution photos for a web gallery
- Anything where quality matters more than the last kilobyte
Questions
A JPG that has been saved once is already compressed. There is little left to take without going down in quality, and Hirira will not pretend otherwise.
For a hero image, yes. For a page with twenty images, aim lower or switch the format to WebP, which is normally 25 to 35 percent smaller at the same look.
Yes, that is the default. Hirira only changes the size if you ask it to, or if you allow it to in order to reach a limit it otherwise cannot meet.
