AVIF to JPG
For software that has not caught up with AVIF.

JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP. Paste works too.
Choose imagesStays on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Best keeps PNG lossless, so it will barely shrink. Try High.
AVIF is newer than WebP and support is thinner outside the browser. Photo editors, print shops and upload forms frequently reject it. Converting to JPG gets you a file that anything will open, at the cost of a larger file for the same picture.
Good for
- AVIF downloaded from a modern website
- Upload forms that reject AVIF
- Photo editors that cannot open it
- Sharing with someone on older software
Questions
Browsers adopted it early, desktop software did not. It is a support gap rather than anything wrong with your file.
Usually yes. AVIF is a stronger compressor, so the same picture as a JPG needs more room. That is the price of compatibility.
Then this browser cannot decode AVIF. Hirira says so rather than failing silently. A current version of Chrome, Edge or Firefox will read it.
